Nestled within what used to be a century-old grove of orange trees, Somner Place is a residential community consisting of 74 individually-detached homes located off of Higley Road, between Southern & Broadway, just north of the US 60 Freeway in Mesa, Arizona.

On the outskirts of Phoenix and twenty miles to the east, most people who reside here, are not even aware that “Mesa,” founded in 1878 and named by early settlers after the Spanish word tabletop, is the largest suburban city by population in the entire United States!

Encompassing 133 square miles, our tranquil plateau above the valley in the Sonoran Desert, is close to the renowned chic village of Scottsdale, borders the college town that houses Arizona State University, and is adjacent to the majestic Superstition Mountains.

Our neighborhood (which is located on the eastern-most section of the city), is maintained by the Somner Place Unit I Homeowners Association (“HOA”), headed by a 3-7 member Board of Directors (“the Board”), who are either appointed within or annually elected by the association majority.

The HOA Board members, receiving no compensation for their time and efforts, “self-manage” the community and are responsible for its total operation, ensuring appropriate property use, guaranteeing architectural and landscape integrity and providing overall maintenance.  The five-block radius of Somner Place includes common sidewalk areas, a private park, regulation-size basketball court and an entertaining ramada.

The HOA is controlled by the Association’s community documents comprising of the Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (“CC&Rs”) the Bylaws (“Bylaws”), and the Rules & Architectural Guidelines (“Rules & Guidelines”), each of which may be reviewed by visiting the corresponding menu tab within Governing Documents on this website.

You will also find under within the Management tab, headings that direct you to the financial management company that collects and handles the HOA’s monies and financial affairs (“Monthly Assessments & Financial Matters”); the form required for any and all changes to homeowners’ properties (“Architectural Form”); and a page dedicated to Somner Place’s approved paint palette  (“Exterior Paint Colors”).

This website also incorporates additional tabs for the viewing of occasional seasonal notices for the community under Newsletters and a section that provides announcements of resident gatherings and celebrations called Special Events.  Please visit each of these components for a chronicle of archival and current news and former and upcoming affairs.

Should you have any questions or comments involving matters related to the HOA, please feel free to use the tab furthest to the right listed as Contact and an email will instantly be executed and transmitted to each of the Board members.  Should you have any difficulty utilizing or navigating this site, you may also wish to leave a message on the “Somner Place Hotline,” where someone will promptly return your call within 48 hours at 602-476-1757.

Lastly, to all those who may visit and peruse our little sliver of cyberspace:  have a wonderful, safe and healthy day!
